Food Pantry

The God's Pantry

In 2017 Fairview gave over 8,630 items to the Lawrenceville Co-op's Food Bank. Our goal for 2018 is 8,000 items, which is about 545 per month.

We start another year bringing in our offerings to God's Pantry for the Lawrenceville CO-OP. We increased our giving by 38% or 2,365 units. An outstanding effort by the Fairview Family, Fairview's Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. We start off this year with 239 units in January and that is 10 units over last year. We need an average of 545 units per month to meet last year without the Christmas Tree. We just had our Chili Cook-off and Lent starts April 1st. Both of these activities and our weekly giving should bring in a lot of units for the CO-OP. Thank you for all your help MISSION COMMITTEE!

The Co-op requests donations of
canned meats, peanut butter, cereal (oats and grits) ,canned fruit AND They also expressed a real need for toilet paper, soap, toothpaste, and other hygiene products since "Food Stamps" cannot be used to purchase these items.

FAIRVIEW FAMILY ANSWERS THE CALL AND DELIVERS 2,308 UNITS TO THE LAWRENCEVILLE CO-OP. AT ATHE MOMENT "GOD'S PANTRYI" IS EMPTY; BUT I KNOW IT WILL BE FILLED BY THE END OF JUNE!! TARGET FOR JUNE IS 400 UNITS WHICH WILL KEEP US ON PACE FOR THE YEAR.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!
MISSION COMMITTEE

LENTEN LAWRENCEVILLE CO-OP DRIVE CHALLENGE

THE CHALLENGE IS FOR "EACH" MEMBER TO BRING IN 40 CANS (ONE FOR EACH DAY) DURING LENT. THAT'S ABOUT $ .50 PER DAY. IF EVERYONE MEETS THE CHALLENGE WE WILL DELIVER OVER 2,000 CANS TO THE CO-OP BY EASTER. BRING YOUR CANS IN ON SUNDAY!.

Bible Study

Joyful Clarion Adult Sunday School

It's that time again! Sunday, September 16:9:45 to 10:45 a.m. - First class in Room #1 in Education Bldg.

Allison Bascas, Lynn Curry, and Marian Hudson, your adult Sunday School teachers.

All materials you need for these studies will be provided by Fairview.

"The world is in pain.Paul's letter to the Romans, as well as one look at our world, gives clear evidence of this. The church shares in the suffering, groaning in the tension between the "already" of possessing the fruit of the Spirit and the "not yet" of our present moral existence.Paul, however, also makes abundantly clear that God doesn't stand apart from the pain.Rather, he entered it through Jesus and dwells in the middle of it in the Spirit. These studies present the whole picture of a sinful world in pain and God's deep love - at work still today - to reconcile that world to himself"

Please join us for Sunday School this year.In addition to our study of Romans this year, during the Sunday School hour we will be having special Sunday School breakfasts on occasion, a shoebox packing party for Samaritan's Purse, a separate study for Lent ... and more to come!

Fairview Presbyterian Bible Study, Fall, 2018

Bible Study for this Fall will be a study of the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke (the Synoptic Gospels). The theme of the study will be "Why God," with the three gospel writers to guide us as we consider: "Why God?," "Why, God!," and "Why, God." We will look at how and why the three gospels, sharing much of the same material, often verbatim, present the story of Jesus the Christ in similar, but distinctly different ways. In the winter, 2019, we will study the Gospel of John and examine what each of the four gospels tells us about God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.

When: Every other Monday, beginning Sept. 10th

Time: 10:30 -12:30 (Please note time change from last year!)

Pablo's Room, Education Building

What to bring: A love of God and God's Word, a sack lunch, and a chance to learn together about God's love through Jesus Christ!

Samaritan's Purse

Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child Shoebox collection

Sunday School will once again host a Shoebox Packing Party on Sunday, November 11, from 9:45 to 10:30 in the Fellowship Hall. ALL are invited (including children). Bring some empty shoeboxes if you have any, and whatever items you would like to donate to fill the boxes. Check your bulletin inserts or Samaritan's Purse website for suggestions/ideas. We will assemble as many shoeboxes as we can at this time with items brought in. Also, we will have a jar for shipping contributions (*suggested 9.00 per box) if you would like to donate any money towards this.

Our Shoebox Warehouse Inspection Nights will be December 4 and December 11, 7 to 10 p.m., again at the old Avon warehouse. Please note these dates on your calendar. More information and sign-up sheets at the Shoebox Party.

November 18 Victory Sunday
Title:"Farthing Faith"
Scripture: Psalm 127 & Mark 12:38-44
Thought for Reflection: As we conclude the 2019 Stewardship Campaign it is helpful to look at this story in Mark where Jesus watched people make contributions to the temple's treasury. It wasn't the large amounts made by the wealthy that drew his admiration but it was the small amount made out of faithfulness.
